Family, friends, colleagues and members of the public came to pay their last respects to the late actress and HIV activist Lesego Motsepe at a memorial service in Johannesburg held at the SABC studios in Auckland Park.

Mourners celebrated the young actress’ life instead of it being a very sad, sombre affair. Although there were many tears there was also much singing and laughter.

An autopsy is currently underway to determine when Lesego died, as well as the cause of death, her uncle Abe Ntlatleng told YOU.

Lesego’s brother Moemise Motsepe found her lifeless body on the kitchen floor of her Randburg home on Monday after he had tried calling her for about four days. Abe said the family had assumed Lesego was not answering her phone because of her busy schedule.

Her funeral service will take place at the Bryanston Methodist Church at 10am on Saturday. She will be cremated and only the family will proceed to the crematorium.

Her doctor, Dr Marlin McKay, said although he had not encouraged Lesego in her decision to discontinue her use of ARVs, he always supported her.
