He's also shared toe-curling pictures of his now-removed nipples, complete with piercings, online - which he plans to sell to the highest bidder.

When most people gaze upon the Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, they feel a little underwhelmed. But when Karim Boumjimar saw it, he felt compelled to have both his nipples and his belly button surgically removed.

"It's really interesting how Da Vinci meticulously paid attention to every single detail but chose not to give her eyebrows or the eyelashes," he told Dazed. "And then it came to me — I could do the same thing with my body."

So the 18-year-old Spanish-Moroccan London-based artist claims the procedure, which he had done in Bosnia, is and expression of his art.

"The themes that I work with are the disconnection and the union of the mind and body," he told PAPER. "I believe that narcissism is my main medium. I use my body to create a conversation between me and the viewer." Since the surgery, Karim, who goes by the name Beige Type,  has taken to sharing selfies of his naked torso on Instagram. Apparently, he uses makeup to cover up the scars, which are still healing. "It wasn't really done legally," he admitted. "I mean it was legal, but not so legal. They just gave me so many drugs and at the end they gave me my nipples." He's also shared toe-curling pictures of his now-removed nipples, complete with piercings, which he plans to sell (rings included) to the highest bidder.

"With my bellybutton I’ve decided to make a necklace, a very special one," he posted on Instagram, "In fact it will be worth £100 000

[R2,15 million]. If interested please message me, serious offers only, all art curators are welcome. NO TIME WASTERS, as i won’t be replying to those!"
