When they realised a lack of funds for their children’s school computer room at Camps Bay Primary School, a group of dads decided to do something about it.

It was in 2012 that these dads from all walks of life – musicians to entrepreneurs – gathered at their local pub that they came up with a concept called Rocktober, “a kick-ass party with some kick-ass live acts”.

Now these fathers who call themselves “The Doers Dads” will be hosting their third live concert to raise funds for the school.

This year’s line-up includes FreshlyGround, The Rockerfellas, Black Orchid Burlesque and DJ Prophet.

Former Top Billing presenter Janez Vermeiren will entertain the guests as the MC.

Freshlyground drummer Peter Cohen, who has a son that goes to Camps Bay Primary, says he is truly excited about this year’s Rocktober.

“The last two were great parties and this year I get to attend as a performer. Being a dad at Camps Bay Primary and having been the drummer for Freshlyground for over 11 years, I decided to ask my colleagues if they'd award me a gig in order to raise some money for my son's school....they obliged,” he adds.

The event takes place on the 18th of October at The Side Show, 11 Machau Street Cape Town CBD and doors open at 7 pm and the show will kickstart at 8 pm. The early bird tickets cost R180; R220 at the door and VIP with dinner they go for R350.
