Believing their son to be in safe hands, Joshua Marbury and his wife went out on a date night. But they were wrong.

When they came home, the couple, from Oregon, found little Jacob crying in his crib with his sitter asleep in the couch.

Then the next morning, they saw that their son's face was covered in bruises.

"[My] son was smacked across the right side of his face by our babysitter (keep this person anonymous) to the point where MULTIPLE doctors (who in fact showed us hand prints) and the detective said it could have killed him," he shared on Facebook.

"We had a confession from the abuser saying they did it.

"Still this person was not arrested because they had to build a case and a jury to find him guilty before they got to jail. (Side note: If I'm not mistake, if I strike a person in the face and the cops were called I would be put in handcuffs immediately)," shared the "furious" father.

"After two months of waiting we find out charges are dropped because my one-year-old can't tell you verbally he was abuses and my son did not show he was in pain or that this person 'intentionally' did this."

The post has garnered almost than 400 000 shares, sparking anger and shock.

"I'm a mother of two littles and recently went back to work. One of my greatest fears in hiring a nanny was something like this happening," commented Stephanie McGanty.

"I am so sorry this happened to your family. It is not okay that nothing is being done. I really hope for the best for you guys, added Cara Novoa, to which Joshua thanked her and expressed his hope that the situation "changes and is done for the right reasons".
