“For anyone battling cancer or enduring chemotherapy. For anyone going through this horrible disease. It is about to get real, real hard and real quick.”

That’s how Jessica Medinger of Texas in the US, started her Facebook post about her 10-year-old’s son heartbreaking fight with cancer.

According to MailOnline Jessica’s son Drake was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2012. Fortunately he won his fight with debilitating disease in 2016.

But then the unthinkable happened: Drake was diagnosed with testicular cancer in that same year.

In her post Jessica says that Drake sleeps in her bed at night because he is afraid that he’ll die in his sleep if he sleeps in own bed.

The picture of the little boy is difficult to look at. He is already just skin and bone, fragile and clearly ill due to the chemotherapy.

Jessica also says how Drake wakes up in the middle of the night to ask if he’s going to heaven if he dies and if he’ll see his father there.

“He wants to know if he’ll be able to talk and play with him.”

Jessica also candidly describes the challenges involved with raising a child who is suffering with cancer.

“This is skin and bones, because I have to beg him to eat ONE green bean for supper, or drink a cup of water throughout the day.”

His pain, which is visible on his face, causes her pain too, she says.

“Him telling me, 'Mommy, I'm not going to make it.' This is him not wanting to be touched, because it hurts too much, and using morphine to get through his day...”

Drake’s medication often makes him nauseous, says his mother. He needs to swallow as many as 44 pills every 24 hours, but he vomits most of it out because he struggles to keep down even a spoonful of yogurt.

But Jessica remains positive. “From the moment I found out I was pregnant till future forever, he has been my reason for life.”

“He is my smile, my love, my heartbeat. He is also my tears, my heart ache, my frowns. He is my life.”
