Even their mom struggles to tell them apart!

Since they gave birth to triplets on 27 August last year, it has been a little bit chaotic at their house, says Louise Aspeling from Floridapark in Roodepoort.

The babies were born at 31 weeks and although they were nine weeks early there were no complications and they were never hooked up to machines.

Daniel was born first, and then Ryan and Luke soon after. At birth Luke weighed 1,1kg, Ryan 1,3kg and Daniel weighed 1,4kg.

Luke was in hospital for about six weeks while his brothers were discharged after just over a month.

These twins were born from two separate wombs

On 27 June the triplets will turn 10 months old. “It is sometimes rough, they all have their moments,” says Louise (28) while laughing about her brood.

“At night they all want attention at the same time.” Luckily the Aspelings have a babysitter who helps them watch their five little ones.

Louise admits that differentiating one triplet from another is not that easy.

“It’s difficult for me. Initially I could differentiate between them by their weight, but now they only differ by a few grams – they weigh between 7,5kg and 8kg. Ryan had a small mark on his ankle, but it’s since disappeared.

Before their birth Louise was admitted to the Life Wilgeheuwel hospital for high blood pressure.

The babies, all three of whom developed in the same embryo sack and shared an umbilical cord, were delivered via an emergency C-section.
