In a bizarre turn of events police in Lahore, Pakistan arrested a nine-month-old baby for attempted murder.

Muhammad Mosa Khan was arrested along with his father Ahmed and more than two dozen others, who were accused of throwing rocks with intent to kill police.

The event occurred during a raid on their neighbourhood, where authorities were reportedly cutting off gas and electricity supplies of residents who failed to pay their bills.

"Our crime is that we had protested against non-availability of electricity in our locality," Ahmed said.

The boy was granted bail by Judge Rafaqat Ali's court, and told to return to court April 12.

Police later said the whole ordeal was a misunderstanding.

Charges were dropped, and the officer who arrested the toddler was suspended.
