In this week’s Quickfire Challenge the remaining 11 cheftestants are challenged to cook a dish using just one pot.

It’s mania in the Top Chef SA kitchen as they jostle for stove-top space and leave plating to the last minute. The winner of the Quickfire gains coveted immunity going into the Elimination Challenge.

The cheftestants are split into two teams for the Elimination Challenge. Their pastry skills and finesse are put to the test and communication breaks down. Guest judge, comedian Trevor Gumbi, joins resident judges Neill Anthony, Lesego Semenya and Lorna Maseko at the Judges’ Table this week.

True to his outspoken nature, Trevor’s brutally honest comments raise a few eyebrows. Whose dishes will be sweet enough to stay and who will be packing their knives?

Tune in to SABC3 at 8pm on Tuesday 2 August 2016 to see what happens.

Last week, Paddy Khuele, chef at Thrive Café in Soweto’s trendy Vilikazi Street, became the third cheftestant eliminated from the competition.

The chefs still in the running for the coveted title of South Africa’s first Top Chef are:

Devin Gregory Hogan, head chef and owner at SMAK Delicatessen and Restaurant in Cape Town;

Annemarie Robertson, executive chef at Burrata, Bocca & Open Door in Constantia;

Hezron Louw, co-owner and chef at the Sumting Fresh Food Bus and Gourmet Street Food Company which started in Johannesburg;

Martine Christian, executive chef at Escondido Tapas in Johannesburg;
