Since local comedian Trevor was announced as the new host of The Daily Show, US Twitterati have uncovered a few tweets in Trev's timelime that some might find a little offensive.

Comedy Central have yet to comment, but bosses seemed thrilled to have the South African on-board when announcing him as long-time host John Stewart's successor.

"He brings such a unique worldview and a deep understanding of human nature, which makes his comedy so insightful," Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless told the New York Times. "He's truly a student of the world."

Even John Stewart himself was pleased with his replacement. “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” the 52-year-old said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.”

He even added he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”
