In the video a small aircraft can be seen speeding to take off as the wildfire approaches the runway.

Last week, South Africa came to a standstill as the Knysna fires wrecked havoc in the Western Cape, leaving six people dead and thousands more displaced. The fires spread quickly across the Garden Route and at times became uncontainable. Countless witnesses shared pictures of the hellish flames on social media but one video, in particular, posted on Facebook by Duran De Villiers looked like a scene straight out of an Armageddon movie.

In the video taken at Plettenberg Bay Airport, a small aircraft can be seen speeding to take off as the wildfire approaches the runway. Behind the aircraft, thick flames seem to engulf the small plane but fortunately, the pilot manages to fly off, leaving the approaching danger behind!

That was a close one!
