A man is on a business trip to China and sets off to buy gifts for his kids. He goes into a shop and finds a nice-looking CD player.

Wary of buying inferior goods he asks the shopkeeper,“What if this thing doesn’t work?”

The shopkeeper quietly points to the only sign in English in the shop.

It reads,“GUARANTEE NO SPOILT.”

Feeling assured the man pays for the CD player and returns to his hotel where he unpacks it and plugs it in.

To his dismay he findsit doesn’t even switch on. He immediately returns to the shop and asks for either a refund or another CD player.

When the shopkeeper refuses to give either, the man points to the sign assuring him of a guarantee.

“Brother, you’re in China,” the shopkeeper says.

“We read from right to left.”
