  • Tap water is mostly as good for you as bottled water, which is sometimes simply filtered tap water. Plastic bottles release oestrogen into water, Jenkins says, so rather use a glass or stainless steel bottle.

  • Lifestyle expert Lisa Raleigh recommends one glass (250 ml) for every 10 kg of body weight.
  • To work out how much water you should drink a day use these formulas: - Men: weight (kg) x 0,023 = litres water - Women: Weight (kg) x 0,020 = litres water
  • For every caffeine drink or glass of alcohol you have, drink three extra glasses of water, Jenkins says.

  • Drink a glass of water for every 15 minutes you work out.
  • Weigh yourself before and after your workout to calculate how much water you should have after working out, Raleigh says.
