Staff initially thought bathroom was faulty and placed an ‘out of order’ sign on the door.

A woman’s lifeless body was found in a supermarket’s bathroom, three days after she entered the store.

CCTV footage shows Katherine Caraway (29) walking into the Sand Springs Walmart on 23 June 2017 around 6 pm.

Her exit from the store, however, isn’t caught on camera and it’s thought her lifeless body lay there the entire weekend before it was found.

Staff initially thought the private family bathroom, in which Katherine was locked, was faulty and placed an ‘out of order’ sign on the door until an employee unlocked the door and made the shocking discovery.

Katherine, from Muskogee, Oklahoma, is a mother to a little boy but her son wasn’t with her at the time of her death.

"There was nothing suspicious that indicated her cause of death at the scene. So the medical examiner will have to determine it," Sand Springs Police Captain Todd Enzbrenner said.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of death.

In the meantime, Walmart released a statement expressing their sadness at the incident.

“We are saddened by this. We don’t know all the facts right now, but we are working closely with local law enforcement to provide what information we have that might be useful,” the statement reads.

"Because this is an ongoing investigation, we must refer you to them for additional information.”
