A former Marine and international bodybuilding champ has announced she is "transgender and gender fluid".

In a post on her Facebook page, Janae Marie Kroc, formerly known as Matt 'Kroc' Kroczaleski, put to rest the "gossip, rumours and questions" about her that had circulating. "Yes, I am transgender/gender fluid. I had planned to wait until my sons were out of high school before I became openly public about this." she explained As that no longer is an option, I will address it now." The 42-year-old, who was selected for Presidential Security duty under President Bill Clinton, said she is "currently living life as both genders", but says if she was forced to chose, she would be female.

"However, this really isn’t about me being a boy or a girl or something in between. This is just about me being me, who I am and who I know myself to be." According to her post, she had been open about the fact that she was transgender with her family and friends for years.

"This is something that I have been dealing with my entire life and has been extremely difficult for me. In fact, it even drove me to consider suicide at one point."

The world-record holding powerlifter, who was in the US Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995, describes herself as being a "transgender/genderfluid Alpha male/girly girl Lesbian in a male body".

Clearing up rumours that she had already transitioned, Janae said she plans to wait until her sons have graduated from high school before "moving forward".

"This is one hundred per cent my decision not theirs," she said. "My sons encourage me to do whatever I need to do and state that they are totally fine with me transitioning now or at any point I see fit,' she added. 'They are amazing young men and the bond we have is unreal."
