Now that Neville is dead, actor Zane Meas can do what he loves best – being a family man

Zane Meas remembers his last day on the 7de Laan set well. It’s been 12 weeks since the actor said goodbye to his colleagues in Lonehill, Johannesburg.

That day he stood on the Hillside Times’ stairs for the last time. He waved goodbye to Aggie, hugged Charmaine and gave Errol a friendly tap on the shoulder . . . it was almost as if his character, Neville, knew he was greeting them for the last time.

Shortly thereafter Charmaine heard the terrible news her husband was dead. Neville had been in a car accident.

Last week we watched as his wedding ring – the only thing remaining from the burnt-out car – was handed to his grieving son Xander.

But although that day marked the end of an era it was also a new beginning for Zane (47). After eight years on the Laan he can now sleep later and spend more time with his family.
