Time to depart for your time is past, your collective bell has tolled and the electorate, now mostly young, desiring more than mere speeches and grandiose plans, have moved on.

Obviously the government cannot lose here, they paying their legal bills with our (tax payers) money and us also paying to fight them.

I have noted some of the speeches made by various ministers within the ANC government this week and I find some amusing, some unashamedly elections-focussed and some just plain racist.

So exactly when did our democracy become Jacob Zuma's dictatorship, or is the process still ongoing?

I would dearly like to know how many houses could have been provided for the needy and poor from the R1.6bn currently being spent on upgrades for Zuma and his inner circle.

The Casually Amalgamated National Convention of Extra-terrestrial Refugees – or CANCER for short – take pleasure in advising that their mother ship has arrived and loading is shortly to be conducted.

Nothing like having a huge majority in parliament as it certainly gives you free reign to spend, travel and live well.

After reading a letter posted earlier this week - Tiani van Baalen’s cancer of the brain - I thought to put what is needed to save her life into perspective with other goings-on in SA.

I note that “Princess” Sisulu has just now discovered that some civil servants find it acceptable to catch 40 winks on the job.

For the first time in my life - and that’s going back some - I’m embarrassed to call myself a South African or to acknowledge that it is the land of my birth, that I still call it home and that I carry its passport.

The political landscape in South Africa is changing, as I sit here typing this article, and I wonder how many are aware of how these changes are liable to change everything.

I cannot believe that the ANC have so easily fallen into a trap of their own making but they have. I should also be laughing, but I’m not.

I’ve read a great many of the articles published here lately with both amusement and concern as they give a good insight into what many South Africans think and feel.

Today I have hope and hopefully it’s not again misguided as I read comments made by the NPC, its leader Trevor Manuel and Mathews Phosa, says News24 user Mark H.

Let’s stop talking and do something for a change.

I would like to respond to Claudia Meads’ article as to why SA will fail - if I may - by playing devil’s advocate and suggesting that it may well falter under the ANC but it will not fail.

I’m not surprised that some people actually believe many in our ruling party are in fact comedians, given their actions, their statements and their thought processes.

Population statistics create a distorted view of SA which somebody with an agenda would leap on to create further disharmony – and we have, in parliament, those who are already doing so.

We need a formal solution to the wave of farm attacks in SA and we need it now.

In light of the Limpopo textbook debacle I think we can take it as a given that the entire ANC government believe that they are not answerable to the judiciary.

Democracy and economic freedom will not come from your burning and looting of property belonging to others

I believe that it's high time we as citizens, taxpayers and the actual employers of these civil servants made our concerns known at the highest level.

Dear ANC, you invested your government employees pension money into the SANRAL e-tolls debacle, without doing any kind of due diligence.

Okay people, enough of the marching, sneering, looting, freeloading and violence. We can now play this a number of ways and either create a new country or tear this one apart.

Pardon me but why are the ANC still going to march on the Goodman Gallery when the painting has already been removed from display?

Where are our priorities? What are we thinking? We have now proven beyond doubt that our collective mentality doesn’t rise above the waist.

Enough of the racism, enough of the mud-slinging as it’s doing no one any good, merely making us all look both insecure and idiotic.

We roared out loud when people talked about the remote possibility that Zuma could become president.

The ANC have got themselves between a rock and a hard place, truly, by pandering to those whom they thought could bring them enough support to continue “ruling”.

I do believe that the ANC government are finally getting hit where they can least afford it – in their collective pockets.

The inner circle of the ANC is extremely nepotistic - besides being greedy and self-serving - but it now looks like everybody in the inner circle is related by blood or marriage and that every day new “connections” are being added.

I believe that the time has now come for all South Africans to stand up and demand that we get responsible, accountable and dependable leadership from the ruling party.

I was interested to note this morning that the suspension of Lieutenant General Richard Mdluli has now been lifted, this after he had been suspended due to being accused of fraud and murder.

The thought just struck me that we spend a lot of time discussing whether we’re going to go the Zim route or not and yet if one actually analyses it we are already another Zimbabwe.

Perhaps I’m over-sensitive, or something, with most South Africans obviously not that worried about it at all even though they spend a lot of time complaining - so why should I be?

Never underestimate the power of the written, and spoken, word as it truly is more powerful than any other weapon if used skilfully and intelligently.

Judging from the articles written lately on News24 it would seem that everybody’s lost the plot, except the government who keep on milking us for all we’re worth. We’ve been taken people.

As this is still a free country and we are still a democracy perhaps we should look, as others wiser than myself have said, at fixing what we’ve got.

Here is a little something - amusing enough if not in truth so very sad - for those pondering South Africa's future.

I'm not sure at the moment whether I should be laughing or crying every time I see a "new" topic emerge from the ANC's discussion document.

There was a time in the early ‘90s in SA when I, and no doubt many others, thought for a while that we had taken a giant step in the right direction by getting rid of apartheid.

I see that Susan Shabangu, after publicly saying that nationalization of the mines is not on the ANC's agenda, now wants CEO's to be held responsible for mine deaths.

Enough is enough, is the call, give us our share now. We also want the cars, the high life, the money and the fancy houses, the goodies and the bling.
