About Me:

I used to be a trade unionist and I now work in the public sector. I spend my weekends drinking beer with friends, pretending that i know something about politics. I am an arm-chair football coach and follow one or two English football teams, depending on which one wins. I used to go to church, mainly because my grandmother told me thats what good boys do. Since i no longer consider myself a good boy, i stopped going to church. As for the praying part, my mother does that for me and i see no reason to do so, lest the man upstairs gets irritated.

Whether Woolworths actually discriminates against white people or not, is a moot point. The issue for me is people are surprised that Solidarity has reacted in the manner it did!

There appear to be an increasing number of incidents where the leadership of the National Union of Mineworkers seem to be at odds with the feeling of members on the ground

I argue that the genesis of the tragedy at Marikana and the events leading up to it, can be put squarely at the door of the scorched earth politics.
