About Me:

I'm a community helper/activist in Knysna. I'm an avid blogger, my main platform being my own website, www.LoveKnysna.com

Small towns are suffering more than most of SA during this economic return to reality. Party politics in Plett, Oudtshoorn and my beloved Knysna ensure our ruin. The DA has unfortunately been given a free ride by white fear when, in fact, they have a lot in common with the ANC. I criticise and despise both parties for their corruption and for playing party politics instead of focusing on the locals they are supposed to serve.

Unfortunately, despite all the 'gory' action, the Garden Route has been mostly forsaken by national media bias. I blog in hope that more people start questioning our irresponsible leaders so that they no longer run, unchecked, away from us.

Don't apologise before asking for something. Don't apologise for your beliefs. Don't apologise to a guy whose in your way in a shop or at work. Don't "Sorry, can i have the bill" to the waitron.

The Municipal Councils that rule us sometimes have little to do with democracy and everything to do with a minority having too much power.

I was wondering if a first step towards improving education in South Africa would be to increase the number of school days?

Pravin Gordhan's 2016 budget speech gave me more hope in one shot than i've felt in a whole year.

Last night’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) in South Africa was as disruptive as expected.

This is what we need before the next local elections which are likely to be the most important since 1994. We need to stop acting like servants and be the boss that we, the public are.

I'm not an economist. The goal here is to make average people (like me) understand how dangerous our country's financial situation is.

Warning: The Red Tide, a natural phenomenon which lasts for weeks or months, is bad news for holidaymakers to the Garden Route and for those tourist towns, such as Knysna, that rely on them. It's also bad news for shellfish and some line fish. BUT all is not bad because there is so much else to do...

My father never understood my repeated warnings, falsely assured by an N2 he considered to be in good condition and with long visibility. "Dad, you haven't met the fools who ride along here."

For two-and-a-half years, the DA-led Knysna Municipality has supported a seemingly illegal tender award that will determine the future of its 72 000 citizens.

The DA is in crisis and there's the distinct possibility that they will lose Knysna in the 2016 Municipal Elections when 2 new wards change the playing field (and ICOSA and the EFF step in as players).
