Chauke admits to escape

Pretoria - Convicted heist kingpin Collen Chauke on Thursday pleaded guilty in the Pretoria regional court to charges of escaping and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Chauke, Lassy Sibiya and Sipho "Killer" Nkuna were among a group of prisoners who escaped from the maximum security prison C-Max in
Pretoria on December 5, 1997.
Prison warders were held at gunpoint and a car was hijacked in
the process.
Sibiya and Nkuna pleaded guilty to five charges, including
robbery with aggravating circumstances, attempted murder, escaping
and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In August last year Chauke was sentenced to 15 years
imprisonment after he was convicted of theft of R12.6m at an
SBV depot in Pretoria.
