Cop dies in shoot-out

Hillbrow - A 28-year-old policeman was killed during a shoot-out in Hillbrow on Friday night, Johannesburg police said on Saturday.
Superintendent Chris Wilken said Inspector Cornelius Rossouw and his colleague who were dressed in civilian clothes were patrolling the Hillbrow area when the incident occurred.
"The two officers noticed two suspicious looking men and
approached them. The two suspects started running and when they
noticed the policemen following, they opened fire," Wilken said.
Rossouw was shot in chest and died at the scene.
His colleague was uninjured.
The two suspects were shot and injured. "They continued running after they were shot, but were arrested by other policemen nearby. Two firearms were confiscated."
Rossouw is survived by his wife.
The two suspects were taken to a local hospital under police
guard and are in a satisfactory condition.
