Cop shot in car chase dies

Cape Town - Policeman David McClean (35), who was shot in the head in Khayelitsha, has died, surrounded by family and friends.
Police spokesperson Neville Malila, told News24 that the officer died in N1 City Hospital on Tuesday about 09:00.
McClean and close friend and colleague Inspector David Landon (31) were shot at when they chased a suspicious vehicle in the L Block area about 14:00 on Monday.
McClean was hit in the head and taken to the Mitchell's Plain clinic from where he was airlifted to N1 City Hospital in Goodwood.
Western Cape police commissioner Lennit Max expressed his shock and outrage at the attack.
He said a task team of detectives was working around the clock
to apprehend the three attackers.
"We will leave no stone untouched in our pursuit of the
suspects. An attack on police officers constitutes a direct assault on the organs of the state. It poses a threat to the very fabric of law and order in our communities," Max said.
Police later recovered a stolen car in Makhaye in Khayelitsha.
The stolen vehicle was found in Makhaya, Khayelitsha.
