London - American actress Kathleen Turner with her "fuller figure" did it, as did former super model Jerry Hall with her "two flattish fried eggs in a small pan". Now Amanda Donohoe, with her "slightly drooping, though younger, healthier, rounder items", too is luring crowds to West End's Gielgud theatre.
Her portrayal of Mrs Robinson in The Graduate now has male theatre goers humming along to Simon & Garfunkel's golden hit from the movie; Here's to you Mrs Robinson....
... and wishing they are the boy next door.
Donohoe has ensured that tickets for The Graduate are still the hottest items in the West End with her appearance first in a skimpy, black, lace and satin nightie and then without it in the famous seduction scene.
Donohoe will officially take over as Mrs Robinson from Jerry Hall on February 21.
Critics thought that Donohoe would be too young to play the older housewife who seduces the boy next door.
The actress however, pointed out that Anne Bancroft was "only 36" when she appeared with Dustin Hoffman in the famous 1967 film.
Donohoe gained fame in the 1986 film Castaway where she mainly appeared in the nude.
She later starred in the television series LA Law.
Her portrayal in The Graduate was described as "poised" and "full of character".
