New names for hospitals, clinics

Bloemfontein - Thirty-eight hospitals and public health centres are to undergo name changes in the Free State province, Health MEC Ouma Tsopo announced on Thursday.
Addressing the launch of the new names in Heilbron, she said the institutions earmarked for renaming were in five districts around the province.
The hospitals, which are divided into district, regional and
tertiary include: Universitas, Oranje, Botshabelo, Heidedaal,
Juggersfontein, Smithfield and Zastron.
Community health centres include Zamdela, Petrusburg,
Ventersburg, Dealesville and Marquard.
Name proposals should be submitted by members of the public to
hospital boards, who will then make recommendations to the MEC.
Tsopo said the changes were inspired by a need for identity, one of the key features of social relations in the present era.
"The new names that the people of the Free State will give to
our institutions will be telling us stories and communicating
messages to us.
"Let those names indeed give messages of hope and a brighter
future," she said.
