Cape Town - An off-duty policeman has been shot and killed in Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats while investigating a crime in
progress, says Captain Eugene Sitzer of Western Cape police.
He said on Friday morning that Sergeant LV
Mahobe was shot in the neck when he responded to shots fired at a
neighbour's house.
He said the neighbour was apparently offloading meat at a house in Kanti Street in Khayelitsha about 9pm when five armed men accosted him and robbed him of his firearm. The robbers fired shots and Mahobe went to investigate.
The robbers opened fire on Mahobe, who was killed.
The suspects are still at large.
