Newcastle - Newcastle has confirmed that striker Michael Owen will travel to the United States in the next few weeks to consult a knee specialist.
"Newcastle United have been in touch with Doctor Steadman at his Colorado clinic with a view to him assessing Michael Owen's knee injury and deciding upon the best treatment for Michael," a club statement said.
Steadman successfully treated Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Craig Bellamy in the past.
The 26-year-old Owen - Newcastle's 17 million pound (about R228m) signing - is facing about eight months on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in England's 2-2 draw with Sweden on Tuesday last week.-AP
