Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa's (CSA) general council on Friday accepted a recommendation from its franchise review committee to keep the same franchises for another season to give the committee more time to investigate the system.
The committee's chairperson, Kader Asmal, tabled an interim report to CSA's general council which contained the recommendation for a postponement of the full report until August.
The committee's findings and recommendations to the general council will now apply to the 2009-2010 season and onwards.
The committee was appointed to review the franchise system for domestic professional cricket after four years of operation and to make findings and recommendations to the general council.
The committee comprises Kader Asmal (chairperson), John Smith, Mtutuzeli Nyoka and Andrew Hudson.
The committee was asked to make its findings and recommendations in time for the general council to make a considered decision before the start of the 2008/9 season.
All stakeholders, including franchises, affiliates, associates, sponsors, and the SA Cricketers' Association, were requested to make written submissions to the committee.
