Port Elizabeth - Cricket Eastern Cape have announced that Proteas players Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Makhaya Ntini, Robin Peterson, Johan Botha and Ashwell Prince have in terms of their Cricket South Africa contract chosen to nominate the Warriors as their franchise of choice for the 2008/9 cricket season.
Dave Emslie CEO of the Union said. "We are delighted to have Jacques, Mark and Ashwell joining the Chevrolet Warriors. All three of them bring with them a wealth of cricketing talent and experience. The support from Chevrolet and the impact of their sponsorship has afforded us the opportunity to operate a professional franchise that has given big name players the confidence to associate themselves with us. They together with our stalwart Chevrolet Warriors, Peterson, Ntini and Botha provide us with a great deal of experience which will be invaluable as we bring our youngsters through. "
The three players will be attending a training camp next week in Pezula with the rest of the Proteas team before leaving for England. "All the dealings with Dave Emslie have been conducted unbelievably professionally and I look forward to scoring lots of runs and taking lots of wickets for the franchise. My relationship with Chevrolet goes back many years and I would like to reward their loyalty to me and to the franchise with a trophy or two in the cabinet" said Kallis.
Raymond Uren, Chairman of Cricket Eastern Cape, joined Dave Emslie in welcoming the threesome to the franchise. "Mark has played for us before, Ashwell is returning home and Jacques record speaks for itself so we are more than delighted to have them join our ranks".
The Warrior's coach Russell Domingo, said. "We are looking forward to having players of this calibre in our team and their knowledge and experience will be of great benefit not only on the field but in the change rooms as well. It's wonderful that Boucher and Prince have returned to their roots and along with Robin Peterson, Johan Botha and Makhaya Ntini we now have 5 locally bred international cricketers all playing for the Warriors."
"I am very excited to be rejoining by boyhood team and am looking forward to taking the team back to the glory days - helping to make the Warriors the top team in the country" said Prince.
