Madrid - Spanish Formula One star Fernando Alonso was reported on Tuesday to be set to join Ferrari in 2005 as a replacement for Michael Schumacher.
However, reports said Schumacher, on the verge of a sixth world title, would see out his contract which runs to 2006 before retiring.
"I don't know anything of a deal. It's just speculation. For the moment he's not on the market. But in 2005 anything's possible," Alonso's agent Adrian Campos said.
The 22-year-old Alonso told the Spanish media he was unhappy with the way Renault had performed this season.
"We're light years behind the major teams in consistency," he said.
Sunday's 44 laps at the Indianapolis Grand Prix was the fourth race this season Alonso has been forced to retire because of mechanical problems.
He also claimed his Italian Renault team-mate Jarno Trulli had the best engine.
"If there's a good engine it's not logic, nor reasonable that I don't get it," he said.
Alonso, who became the youngest ever Grand Prix winner in Hungary in August, is sixth in the drivers' championship, with Trulli eighth.
