Paris - Spaniard David Arroyo has been ruled out of the Giro d'Italia after breaking his arm in a crash during training, his Caisse d'Epargne team said on Thursday.
"Four riders of the team, David Arroyo, Vladimir Karpets,
Fran Perez and Joaquim Rodriguez were the victims of a crash
this morning when they were coming back from a long training
session," Caisse d'Epargne said in a statement.
"(Arroyo), who has a fractured (arm), will not be able to
take the start of the Italian race."
The 28-year-old Arroyo, 10th in last year's Giro, will be
replaced in the roster by France's Mathieu Perget.
The Giro starts with a time trial in Palermo, Sicily, on
Saturday and ends on June 1.
