Johannesburg - Morne Nagel, South Africa's 27-year-old sprinter who prefers to compete indoors over 60m rather than in the local outdoor circuit over the standard 100 and 200m events, recorded his best win of the year in Valencia, Spain on Saturday.
He defeated a strong field at the IAAF Reunion International Indoor Permit meeting winning in 6.65secs.
He had a very good start in the 60m final and stayed ahead of most of the leading European sprinters. International stars Ronald Pognon of France who is the European record holder, and Portugal's Francis Obikwelu, could only manage seventh and fifth place respectively.
Freddy Mayola of Cuba and Dariusz Kuc of Poland filled the minor rostrum positions, both clocking times of 6.66secs.
The South African has a best time of 6.61secs to his credit so far this season.
