Madrid - Spanish police stated on Monday they have seized a million euros ($1.27m) worth of anabolic steroids in a series of raids known as Operation Ginva.
Six Spaniards and a Cuban have been arrested as tens of thousands of doses of anabolic steroids destined for sports gymnasiums were found.
"Pharmaceutical products sourced from outside the country have been distributed without any sanitary controls and the value on the black market tops one million euros," said a police statement.
Since the operation began in June 2005, 70 people have been arrested and more than 30 million doses of doping products have been seized while six suspect laboratories in Catalonia have been discovered.
Spain has also recently seen a crackdown on doping in cycling that has seen 58 cyclists implicated in a blood doping network.
