Rossi fastest in Qatar practice

Doha - Seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi had the fastest combined time on Thursday in MotoGP practice for the Qatar Grand Prix.
The Italian had the best time of 1:56.46 seconds in the second session at the 5.4km Losail International Circuit, which will host the first round of the new MotoGP season on Saturday.
Rossi finished ahead of American team-mate Colin Edwards, whose time of 1:56.66 was the fastest in the first practice session.
Rossi's best time in the first session was 1:56.78.
Ducati rider Casey Stoner of Australia had the third best time of 1:56.74.
John Hopkins of the United States, who rides for Suzuki, had the fourth fastest time of 1:56.97, while Carlos Checa of Spain was fifth with a time of 1:56.98 on a Honda.
Defending world champion Nicky Hayden, also on a Honda, was 15th at 1:57.92 in the second session. Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa of Spain had the sixth fastest time at 1:56.99.
