Sanzar names Super 14 referees

Johannesburg - Sanzar has announced the referees for the opening four rounds of the 2007 Super 14 tournament.

The competition gets underway on Friday, February 2.

"The 2007 season will see a good mixture of experienced referees like Paul Honiss, Steve Walsh, Stuart Dickinson and Jonathan Kaplan and some younger referees like Paul Marks, Chris Pollock, Jerome Fortuin and James Leckie officiating in Super 14," said current Sanzar referees co-ordinator, Peter Marshall.

"With 2007 being a Rugby World Cup year, match officials will be out to impress the International Rugby Board referee selectors," he said.

According to a Sanzar media statement, New Zealand's Paul Honiss will referee the opening Super 14 game, a local derby between the Blues and Crusaders in Auckland.
