Rest in peace Bob, even though you coached the opposition we still had the world of respect for you. Its gonna be a sad day in cricket today. My sincere condolences to your close family and friends. - jakes

Condolences to the family of Woolmer.I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. May he rest in peace. But Pakistanis need to learn to accept defeat and stop demanding someone to be killed because they lost a match, which could be the cause for woolmers death. - Dan

What a sad sad loss to cricket. What a wonderful mentor and coach, the cricketing world has lost a true pioneer of the modern game. My condolences to those close to him. He will be sorely missed. - Andy

We lost a great coach not for Pakistan but in the world, he is the one of my favourite coaches he always positive about South African team I can tell you South Africa will win the World Cup .I read his comments about South Africa he said they will go all out to the finals. - Nkosinathi Bongani Mzila

Sad day for cricket. He was and will always be a great cricketer and person. The world has suffered a great lost. Condolences to his family. - Sorry

In my opinion one of the best coaches in world cricket and most definitely the best South Africa has ever had. My sincere condolences to his family. May this great man rest in peace. - Chris

To a coach who always had a smile and a wealth of expertise in the game of cricket. You will be missed for the true gentleman that you were. One who always brought to the game the respect and grace that it deserved. Thank you for the time and hours spent bringing our star cricketers of South Africa to the level they are at now. May god bless your family at this difficult time. - Fiona

What an enormous gap the passing of Bob Woolmer has left in World Cricket. He is responsible for so many great innovations of the modern game, on and off the field. This certainly leaves a shadow over the World Cup tournament. Much of SA's success is due to the foundation left by Woolmer from his coaching involvement with many of the senior players and his advice up until this weekend. I'm going to miss you Bob. - Brad

My condolences to his family, he will be sadly missed by the SA cricketers and the whole cricket nation in SA. Finally him and Hansie will be together watching the World Cup. May his soul rest in peace. - Shams

A tragic loss for world cricket. We lost a fine man and coach. He was a huge loss to SA cricket and I was always sad that he didn't continue coaching South Africa. Our condolences and prayers to his wife and family. - Dianne

My sincere condolences to his family. It's hard to believe a man who was so well known is no longer around. - Sid

What a loss! To lose someone of the stature of Bob Woolmer is just unspeakably sad. To Bob's family - what can be said? You are in our thoughts and prayers. It's unbelievable that this could have happened, and the saddest thing is, if people realised that cricket is just a game, not a life or death situation, this tragedy may have been entirely preventable. - M G

He will always be remembered as a true ambassador to the game of cricket, especially in South Africa. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. - Nick Levendal

As throughout the history of mankind sport has become all too consuming. May we all win and lose with humility in future. God bless you Bob. - Bronwen Phillips

My condolences to his family and friends. He was a great man. I will forever remember him for his contribution to South African cricket. I am an ardent fan of the game and his death is a great loss to the world of cricket. R I P - Grace Barclay

Bob Woolmer took SA Cricket to a new level when it needed a lift. His legacy will always be seen in future success of Proteas. Cricket aside, I do not know much about him. That shows how dedicated he was to the game. Condolences to his loved ones. It is a great loss to world cricket, but surely a greater loss to his family - SACricketSupporter

How prophetic Bob Woolmer's words were at the press conference after the Pakistani loss to Ireland. "It's just a game .." I just hope everyone remembers those words, and our sentiments now, the next time (and there will be a next time) South Africa lose a match. It's important to win, but it is just a game. No one needs to die, rivers don't change their course, the sun still rises and sets. It's just a game. Fare thee well Bob. Strength to the family. - Just a game

Woolmer's death came as a big shock. He did so much for cricket in SA. I feel for his wife and children as they also made a huge sacrifice with him being away from home. Sorry you had no time for retirement. I salute you, Bob. God Bless - Cricket Fan & Wife

It is indeed a sad day for Cricket! Cricket as a whole has lost a great icon! May his soul rest in peace! - Riaz - Jhb

Bob Woolmer was responsible for creating the cricketing heroes we remember today when South Africa was a clueless and young but talented side. He created heroes like Jonty Rhodes and Alan Donald by nurturing them and giving them the guidance and direction they needed. He will be greatly missed. Thank you Bob Woolmer. - Mario
