Maradona has lost 11kg

Bogota, Colombia - Diego Maradona has lost 11kg since he underwent a stomach staple at a clinic in Colombia earlier this month and is on track to loose another 40kg by the end of the year, his doctor said on Tuesday.
"Diego is doing very well, he is loosing weight as planned, his health is perfect and he is doing exercise," said Abraham Ganemque, one of the surgeons who operated on him in the Caribbean city of Cartagena on March 5.
Ganemque checked on Maradona on Monday before the former soccer star flew to Venezuela, where he was expected to make a special appearance on Tuesday with Venezuela's leftist President Hugo Chavez, whom he admires greatly.
Maradona, a former World Cup hero, had become obese in recent years as he struggled to overcome cocaine addition at a clinic in Cuba.
Before the stomach operation, the 1.68m Argentine weighed 121kg.
