Namibia to benefit from 2010 WC

Namibia - South Africa's preparations for the 2010 World Cup will be highlighted during President Thabo Mbeki's working visit to Namibia on Tuesday.

Mbeki and his counterpart President Hifikepunye Pohamba will co-chair the sixth session of the SA-Namibia Heads of State Economic Bilateral Forum.

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa has confirmed that Namibia's support for South Africa for the World Cup would be discussed.

South Africa is Namibia's most important economic partner with total investments in that country of about $1.6bn.

Namibia is one of several SADC countries which already have plans in place to capitalise on the event, particularly in the tourism sector.

Namibia, Angola and Botswana are all hoping to establish training camps for visiting teams competing in the tournament.
