Bartoli cruises into 3rd round

Berlin - Eighth seed Marion Bartoli breezed past Czech Republic's Lucie Safarova 6-0 6-3 in the second round of the German Open on Tuesday.
Italy's Bartoli took just over 50 minutes at the Steffi Graf
Stadium to become the first player to reach the third round of
the $1.3m clay-court tournament.
Lucky loser Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan, who replaced
the injured Amelie Mauresmo in the draw, made the most of her
good fortune to beat another Frenchwoman, Aravane Rezai 7-5 7-5
in the first round.
Mauresmo pulled out of the event on Monday due to a rib
injured caused by too much coughing.
Fifth-seeded American Serena Williams and seventh seed Elena
Dementieva of Russia are due to play in second round matches
later on Tuesday.
Top seeds Justine Henin of Belgium and Serbia's Ana Ivanovic
are not in action until Wednesday.
