Ouagadougou - A highway accident involving two buses and a freight truck in Burkina Faso has killed at least 11 west Africans and injured 41, the government said late Sunday.

The overnight accident occurred about 200km west of the capital Ouagadougou, Territorial Administration Minister Jerome Bougouma said, adding that the victims included people from the nearby countries of Mali, Togo, Benin, Senegal and Guinea.

Accidents are common in Burkina Faso due to badly maintained roads and ageing public transport.
