Durban - Twenty people were injured during a collision between a taxi and a car in a Durban suburb, paramedics said on Thursday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the accident happened on Spine Road bridge in Westville on Wednesday night.

"When paramedics arrived at the scene at 19:00 on Wednesday, they found that a vehicle crashed into the side of the taxi causing it to go down a ditch," said Botha.

The 19 passengers in the taxi and the driver of the car were injured.

"Four patients had sustained serious injuries and the 16 other patients had only sustained minor injuries," said Botha.

All the injured were taken to the Kwadabeka Clinic for further treatment, he said.
