Aisha Gaddafi demands ICC probe

The Hague - The daughter of slain Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi has asked the International Criminal Court if it will probe the killing of her father and her brother, her lawyer said on Wednesday.

Aisha Gaddafi's lawyer Nick Kaufman said he had written to ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo asking for more information on the October 20 killing of Muammar Gaddafi and his son Mutassim Gaddafi.

"Aisha wants to know if he is investigating the murders and if not, why he is not," Kaufman told AFP.

The former dictator and his son were killed after their capture by forces loyal to the National Transitional Council.

In a letter to the prosecutor, Kaufman wrote that Muammar and Mutassim Gaddafi were captured alive at a time when they threatened no one.

They were both killed soon after and their bodies put on display.

"As you are aware, your analysis of the situation in Libya requires you to investigate the commission of alleged crimes by all parties to the conflict," Kaufman said.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Muammar Gaddafi on June 27 for crimes against humanity carried out as he tried to suppress the Libyan revolt.

Another son, Saif al-Islam, and former information minister Abdallah al-Senoussi are subject to similar warrants. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was arrested November 19 and there are unconfirmed reports Al-Senoussi was also captured.

ICC spokesperson Florence Olara could not confirm if the prosecutor had received the letter.

The ICC has jurisdiction in Libya matters under a UN Security Council resolution from February 26.

Aisha, her brothers Mohamed and Hannibal, her mother Safiya and other family members were allowed to flee to Algeria for humanitarian reasons, according to Algiers.

Dear Aisha Gaddafi With all due respect dearie, unless you first ask the ICC to "probe" the deaths of thousands of Libyans murdered by your father FIRST....then I suggest you shut up. Be thankful the rest of your countrymen have spared you from the same fate! Amazing how families of dictators are quiet while the citizenry is being slaughtered and yet feel they have the moral high ground to demand anything after the people become GATVOL!

Angus, Aisha is right this bullsh*t ICC is not even handed. He must investigate both side, the same must happen in Cote Ivoire. About other Libyans, their family members must take stand and ask him the same. In anycase, you seem to be the puppet of France not the West as people always put it. It is highly punishable to execute POWs in case you forgot.

I would like there to be a investigation into what was done to Gaddafi and his son.I would also like a investigation done into what crimes her family did.I would also like her to be investigated as well.I would also would want survivors to tell their side of the stories.

Full support Aisha...he must bloody do his job properly...

How about an inquiry into the thousands her mad father had exterminated? He got what he deserved. The only good dictator is a dead one. She is ranting and raving from the comforts of Algeria most likely paid for by money they looted from Libya just like her brother had bought a luxury pad in Mexico and tried to forge new identities to disappear there. If she does not shut up they should go after her too. Or if she is so brave, let her go back home and make that argument. You do not like these outcomes, chastise your parents when they are going berserk. There is a point when a child can do that and she was old enough to do that. These children will be in full knowledge of what their parents do and benefit from these inhuman and inhumane acts without questioning and are often actively supporting or executing the oppression too.

What people forget here is that justice means correction of injustice or wrongdoing and reparation. The problem is the ICC is a kangaroo court therefore working as a tool of imperialism. Why is that tony blair and G.bush are not arrested and tried for their crimes in irak? i tell you the day occampo will dare to open his mouth about that he`ll be fired and his assets frozen and the court disbanded.take the rwandan exemple:everybody knows that kagame shot down the plane carrying his predecessor killing him and the innoncent president of burundi, kagame hunted and killed almost 1 million rwandese hutus in DRC in 1996,kagame has assassinated 10 millions congolese today,he`s sponsoring the mass rapes of congolese that you hear about everyday in estern DRC so he can implant the tutsi in DRC and expand his country size, kagame is busy assassinating all his opponents everywhere in the world(recent case in south africa of kayumba nyamwasa) but the ICC is only trying hutus because kagame is the darling of the west by giving them the vast mineral wealth for free from the DRC that he controls very well with his army and his representative in power in DRC,joseph kabila. So forget that aisha call for justice will be heard by the ICC.

The only probe she is entitled to based on her family's history of disregarding basic human rights, involves a broomstick....
