2011-07-20 22:37

Algiers - An Algerian daily says that security forces have killed seven foreigners trying to enter Libya and confiscated weapons, US dollars and documents about the al-Qaeda branch in North Africa.

El Khabar cites security forces well informed about the southern arm of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb for its information.

It said on Wednesday that seven foreign terrorists were killed in a long battle early on Tuesday in the Tisdirine region where the borders of Algeria, Niger and Libya meet. The group were traveling from Niger in three vehicles.

The information could not be independently confirmed.

There was no information about the confiscated documents.

El Khabar says 27 terrorists have been killed at the frontier since the start of the Libyan uprising.
