2011-12-25 10:50

Lagos - Emergency services near the Nigerian capital of Abuja say there are not enough ambulances to evacuate the injured and dead following a bomb blast at a church on Christmas morning, Reuters reported.

An emergency official said there were casualties, but he could not provide a figure, AFP reported earlier.

"Explosion in St Theresa Church close to Abuja [sic]," said Yushau Shuaib, spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency of the blast in the Madalla area.

"There are casualties, but we can't talk about figures for now."

they try to kill Christians and they have for more than 2000 years. These people will pay for their sins. Hell waits for them.

Evil, disgusting act. May Allah punish you for bringing your own religion into utter disrepute. The Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) expressly forbade attacking places of worship and only allowed fighting against combatants. Our sincere and deepest sympathy and condolences to all the victims.

      Riaad your comment is appreciated.

And religion is a good thing? It just never stops killing people.

  • ludlowdj - 2011-12-25 12:07

modern man cannot survive religion, the choice is simple abandon religion or face the extinction of the human race. if there is a God, his biggest enemy would be the churches and religions of this world, god and religion have nothing to do with each other and never will.

      Ben - 2011-12-25 12:18

If one looks at the killing outside religion it is clear that the human race deserves extinction.

      Dave - 2011-12-25 12:24

The people who perpetrate these acts of violence may do it in the name of religion but they do not understand their religions. If they did, they would not do it and rather love.

HAs any group taken responsibility for this yet? If it is a Johadist group, then the proof that Islam is breeding hate must be seen. These creatures must be stopped at all costs. The world cannot sit by and watch innocent people being killed because of their faith. Israel is daeling with this same issue and the world must recognise this and take action.Condolences to the families of the deceased and injured.

In Israel's case, the Palastinians deserve the same. Islam do not condone violence, read the Koran. It is the lunatics, and quite a few Christians also come to mind.

      John - 2011-12-25 15:06

@Jacqui. I salute you for believing that Islam does not condone violence. However, just have a look at In one week: Dec. 03 - Dec. 09 Jihad Attacks: 37 Allah Akbars: 4 Dead Bodies: 223 Critically Injured: 421 Not all of the Quranic verses condoning violence, but quite a few: You justify Islam by saying Christians are just as bad. Even if Christians are just as bad(which they are not), by your own admission Islam is bad. Secondly, Christians are under the new covenant, Jesus said to Peter, to put his sword away. Christians have no scriptural mandate to follow 'tooth for a tooth'. In other words, there is no justification for killing as a means to proseletyze in the bible. Under the old convenant a women would be stoned to death for adultery. Jesus saved an adulterous women from death condemned to death by stoning, bu extending mercy. In Islam, the peaceful verses has been abrogated by chapter nine of the Qur'an. Those violent verses are just as real today as they were 1400 years ago. In other words, Jesus said pray for your enemies, pay them good for evil. Islam says, subdue the unbelievers, strive hard against them, kill them. As you can see from the statistics, there are more than enough people who act out what the Qur'an teaches. 'Christian' lunatics do not follow the bible, Muslim lunatics do follow the Qur'an.

    Peace on earth...when?

  • mamoshianem1 - 2011-12-26 07:52

These people don't have faith and respect for other religions. If we can embrace our diversity, difference of religion. The world will be a better place.Enough is enough.People who are evil they must stop hiding their evil deeds behind Koran/Bible.I use to respect Muslim/Islam,but now I have a different view. They must get rid of rotten potatoes in their religion. They had drag the name of their religion in mud.

`And peace shall reign . . .' only when each and every religion has been consigned to the scrapheap of human history; only when every religious text has been burnt and the ashes thrown down the deepest mine-shaft to remove religion from present memory; only when every cent held by the churches had been allocated to the poor; only when the world's population had been educated with free thought; only when the religious have been fed to the hungry, then, and only then, shall peace reign. Just imagine: poverty alleviated, no more starving(1,1billion muslims, 2,1 billion christians and 500 million others would quite easily feed the estimated 2,5 billion starving wretches), no more over-population. A world, our world, saved.
