2012-11-12 18:28

Nairobi - At least 42 Kenyan police officers were confirmed killed after armed cattle rustlers ambushed them in the remote northern county of Samburu on Saturday, a government official said on Monday.

Officials had previously put the death toll at 12.

"We have recovered more bodies, we now have 42 in total.

They were ambushed by attackers bearing sophisticated weapons, including machine guns," Osman Warfa, provincial commissioner for the vast Rift Valley province, told Reuters.

Warfa said authorities were searching for more bodies.

Where is the international outcry, these were men with families. Working to keep the community safe: now they were slaughtered like cattle. SAPS kill militant mine workers at Marikana and they are crucified. News is all about sensationalism. That earthquake in Turkey was also the worst since Apartheid ended in 1992. Come on journo's try and come up with new headlines

earthquake in turkey? what are you on about - the Van earthquake of 2011 maybe? Or the Izmit quake of 1999? Both of which dominated world news. The only earthquakes this year were a slight tremor in Istanbul the other day, that broke some windows. Do you know something that we, the media, and the people of Turkey dont? Or are you just smoking conspiracy spliff?

Surely it should be cheap now a days to put a tracking chip the cattle? That way they can be tracked/identified later and the culprits brought to justice. Perhaps they should make cattle rustling a capital offence, unless it already is, seeing how ruthless these criminals are.
