Comoros plane crash - 27 rescued

Moroni - Rescue workers on Tuesday pulled 27 survivors from an aircraft that plunged into the Indian Ocean on take-off from the Comoros Islands' main airport, aviation officials said.

The plane belonging to Inter-Iles came down around 13:00 pm (10:00 GMT) 5km from Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport, the Comoros Civil Aviation Authority's Ali Abdou told AFP.

All 27 passengers and crew on board the plane survived, according to Mohamed Arfachad of the Red Cross.

The airport is on the outskirts of the capital Moroni.
