Gaddafi son: Trial in Libya would be murder

Amsterdam - The son of killed Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi says that he wants to be tried for alleged war crimes in the Netherlands, and a trial in Libya would be tantamount to murder.

In a filing by defence lawyers at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands late on Tuesday, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said "there will certainly be no justice in the case if the prosecution is based on evidence from torture".

"I am not afraid to die but if you execute me after such a trial you should just call it murder."

The Hague court and Libyan government are negotiating where Saif's trial will take place for war crimes including murder and torture allegedly committed during the overthrow of his father's regime. He is being held in western Libya.

So what you did in your fathers name was not tantamount to murder - oh how the mighty have fallen. It always amazes me that while they hold office they are full of c*** and all macho, but when the shoe is on the other foot it is a different story all together - then we hear about human rights etc...etc...etc.

You're lucky you're even getting a trial- if there was any true justice in the world you'd just be dragged outside and shot anyway. So have your trial at home. Scum.

He is a scumbag, but he does deserve a fair trial, and he won't get this in Libya. The ironi is; that it was his daddy, who destroyed the judiciary in Libya !!!

He knows he won't be send to death in The Hague. In the end he is just another silly little man, stripped off his privileges, he bleeds like everyone else.

Ok, now the man is all of a sudden concerned about a fair trial! Who cares about the thousands of citizens he and his family tortured and executed without any trial at all...
