Johannesburg - All nine workers killed in an accident at Impala Platinum's Rustenburg operations have been found, the company said on Tuesday.

"Sadly, we are now in a position to confirm that all nine employees trapped by the rock fall were fatally injured and have been recovered from the shaft complex," the company said in a statement.

Implats was informing their families, in consultation with the National Union of Mine Workers.

The workers were killed in major fall of ground around noon on Monday in one of the mechanised panels at 14 Shaft.

"We have set aside Friday, July 24 2009, as a day of mourning across our operations."

Earlier Mining Minister Susan Shabangu expressed "shock" and "deep regret" at the deaths and conveyed her condolences to the families.
