Cape Town – The Windhoek house, a gift by the Namibian government to former Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda, is ready and will be handed over soon, a report says.

The Namibian said the house was previously used as accommodation for judges and expatriate senior public prosecutors.

Permanent secretary to the President Samuel Goagoseb said renovations were done and the house was ready to be handed over although the date was yet to be set.

"Whenever he [Kaunda] is ready. It could be next month," Goagoseb said adding that the house would be handed over before the end of the year.

A previous occupant of the house has described it as comfortable and spacious.

This is the second honour for Kaunda who also has a street named after him in Windhoek.
