Cairo (dpa) - An Egyptian policeman was killed in a shooting at the embassy of Niger in Cairo, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.

Unknown gunmen in a car opened fire at a police force guarding the embassy, wounding two policemen and a civilian.

The attack, the second in a month against a foreign mission in Egypt, took place early on Wednesday when there were personnel inside the embassy.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

On July 11, a car bomb went off outside the Italian consulate in Cairo, killing a civilian.

An Islamic State affiliate claimed responsibility for that bombing.

Egypt has seen a spate of deadly attacks since the military's 2013 overthrow of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi following massive street protests against his rule.
