Ouagadougou - President Blaise Compaore is calling on Muslims to stop using violence as a way of expression.

Compaore, a Christian, said that violence should not be the response of Muslims to provocations, even from the maker of the film of the Prophet Muhammad. Compaore described the filmmaker as a "brainless man who thinks he has the right to despise the religious feelings of others."

Compaore deplored the street violence of recent days, saying the "credibility and greatness" of Islam is not through violence.

Compaore's government is currently trying to negotiate with the Islamist extremists who have seized the northern half of Mali.

As a Christian, I must ask why it is Muslims always resort to violence and attempted murder as a way of protest? How many numbers of times has Jesus Christ himself been blasphemied and shamed the world over today, yet you do not see born again Christians storming government embassies and burning flags. By all means, have your peaceful demonstrations and marches without tearing up cities. Secondly, have you actually seen the movie? How can anyone be so easily offended by something that isn't even a movie? And if Islam is really a religion of peace, they are doing a great job of proving it - with violence and shows of hate!
