We want new ideas, Mugabe tells AU

2012-08-07 11:36

Cape Town - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has called on the new African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to reassert the continent’s sovereignty.

The Herald online reported on Tuesday that Mugabe made the call at a banquet held in his honour by his Zambian counterpart President Michael Sata last week.

"We want the new leadership to reassert that Africa is not only defined by geography, but also by a set of values and principles which we have freely adopted as independent states over the years.

"These values include freedom, respect for the sovereign will of the people, as well as sustainable development and the eradication of poverty, among others.

"We welcome the election of the new chairperson of the commission and look forward to the injection of new ideas and vigour into the affairs of our union."

Dlamini-Zuma landed the post after beating the incumbent, Gabon's Jean Ping, at the last session of the AU meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, last month.

She got the backing of 37 countries.

Here's one idea for Mugabe, stop being a dictator, murderer and thief.

      Revelgen - 2012-08-07 11:57

Yes first new idea Dlamini-Zuma: call for the firing of this murderous, hypocritical thug who has ruined a once-prosperous country and driven 3 million Zimbabwean refugees into S. Africa. - 2012-08-07 12:37

Old ideas like farm invasions are not in fashion any more?

      chaplinncharlie - 2012-08-07 16:32

I have an idea... Just DIE....

      backstabber.adder - 2012-08-07 17:26

Kicked the farmers out. Hungry. Now what? Hehehehe....

      claudia.meads - 2012-08-07 20:19

"...freedom, respect for the sovereign will of the people..." I am sure the people of Matabeleland would agree. Or perhaps the people working in Zimbabweans mines would agree. Or perhaps 95% of Zimbabweans who are unemployed. For Zimbabwe is simply the blueprint for post-colonial Africa - it opens the gates for despotic psychopaths to be voted into government by illiterate mobs...

prevence.if dictators existe.then they are the children of inslavers who set sail centuries back to robe others for thier come an aryan cliam to be teaching others what good leadership is about with such a past.shall you bring back the indians of america back?or they are in paradise heaven with the holy aryan GOD?

  • nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-08-07 12:00

new values like getting disgustingly rich from blood diamonds, while 1,6 million of your people starve to death & your economy collapses completely.

      ronald.z.mazorodze - 2012-08-07 14:04

nigel that is very very wrong, google what blood diamonds are. the British and the west are starving zimbabweans merely because the man has his people and their supremacy in mind. Land to the people, funny how non-Zimbabweans tell us that there has to be regime change. we love our president, leave him and us alone. mind your own comical politics

New ideas - to steal, murder White farmers and political opposition, enrich themselves, stash their money overseas, live in disgusting luxury while their minions starve etc etc. Yes, Mugabe, I'm sure you and the AU will find many new ideas that will enable your life's work to continue.

      ronald.z.mazorodze - 2012-08-07 14:06

Big Chief why didnt you mention the part when white farmers got the land through the barrel of the gun hiding behind God's word? when a thief steals from you, and you take your stuff from the thief by force, are you a thief too?

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-07 14:20

Ronald, the same goes for the land taken from the Khoi San by African tribes before the so-called white-man arrived. The truth is conquering land is part of human history everywhere.

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-07 14:30

Oh Ronald, if only the world worked in such simplistic terms as your mind. Your statement on it's own makes perfect sense. However, put your statement into context according to historical fact, and you're completely wrong. That's not the biggest tragedy however. By far the greater tragedy is that you and millions like you will never understand this or want to put anything into context of time or era because you've all been told you'll get it back, and that's the belief you will cling to no matter what anyone says. In time, you will come to find it was yet another lie from the corrupt African leaders club to keep you hanging on and believing them, and keep them in power. Do you enjoy playing puppet, or is it really just a case of 'a simple mind'?

  • simon.mwando - 2012-08-07 12:09

tell them Bob! \r\nSA needs to be liberated!

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-07 12:20

SA is liberated already Twat. Where have you been? Or does liberation mean you want a free hand out, preferably from White origin?

      ronald.z.mazorodze - 2012-08-07 14:10

black South Africans succumb to the ravages of Neo-colonialism

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-07 14:34

No Ronald, you succumb to the idiocy of your own minds, the massive chip on your shoulders, a massive inferiority complex, and finally, the false promises made to you by your corrupt leaders. The only chains you have are those in your mind put there by the ANC.

  • paharms - 2012-08-07 12:12

"These values include freedom, respect for the sovereign will of the people, as well as sustainable development and the eradication of poverty, among others" translated in Mugabespeak "Subjugate and murder your opponents, let the people eat cake, disposess those who have and give it cronies eradicating food production and industrial competence, and then ignore every vestige of decency and pubic opinion."

  • - 2012-08-07 12:46

Lol its so funny hw people hate Mugabe,

      ronald.z.mazorodze - 2012-08-07 14:12

so funny how they praise zuma, who does a lot to promote 'peace' in foreign lands whilst he subjects his own to thuggery and gangsterism

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-07 14:35

Well the people in Zimbabwe don't think it's so funny. Perhaps you should spare a thought for them before laughing too much?

  • steve.ritchie.739 - 2012-08-07 13:28

Mad Bob is such a bullsh*ter and what amazes me the most, there are trolls like simon.mwando that believe this clown. Go and live in Zim if you think it's the way to go.

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-07 14:09

That shows the hypocrisy of these trolls - they sit in SA, preaching how wonderful Mugabe and his Zimbabwe is, but they won't go live there because they know damn well it's a total disaster. Now you have to ask - why then do they do this?

  • sisie.indola - 2012-08-07 13:33

Here is a new idea - let all government officials in any country who has looted & stolen land, from the coffers, and have benefited from such to be replaced immediately and they have to replace that which they have taken, personally. How's that for a new idea. But there again we are talking about Africa - will never happen.

  • vernon.meakin - 2012-08-07 17:03

Here,s a new idea,Drop dead and do the world a favour.

  • mike.dufham.7 - 2012-08-07 17:26

"Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has called on the new African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to reassert the continent’s sovereignty." What a joke, delusional idiots, both if them
